Low-Calorie Diet, Day 0

A lot of people have commented that I look like I'm losing weight. In fact, I'm heavier than I've ever been. I just weighed myself, and tipped the scale at 349.2 pounds. This makes me 140 pounds overweight, the equivalent of carrying Mariah Carey around on my back 24 hours a day. I can't go on like this anymore, so I'm doing something about it.

Tomorrow, I start a weight loss program run by Kaiser Permanente called LCD (Low-Calorie Diet). It's a 16-week program that replaces two meals a day with powdered shakes, soup, or granola bars, and limits the third meal to 500 calories. There are weekly meetings with weigh-ins and classes. People participating in the program can expect to lose between 20 and 40 pounds. Their biggest loser to date dropped 62 pounds. I intend to beat that record.

I 've not posted in a long time, and I'm sure most people aren't particularly interested in my weight loss goals, but I'm going to post here at least once a week with the results of the weigh-in, as well as general check-ins on my mood, concentration levels, etc.

I know that this program isn't going to be pretty, especially at first. If you see me around and I seem cranky, please give me a big hug and some words of encouragement.
